More Macomb County police agencies roll out interactive crime maps

More law enforcement agencies are working to keep civilians better informed of crime in their community with a new online crime incident map called CrimeMapping. “This is the 21st century of policing,” Shelby Township Deputy Police Chief Mark Coil said. “People want to be informed in real time of what is going on in their neighborhoods. It’s an easy-to-use program that provides transparency to our community.”

Montgomery unveils interactive crime map

Residents in Montgomery, Alabama, will now be able to view crime statistics, response times, and more data all from the city’s CrimeMapping website. The data comes from a program called CrimeView Dashboard, which is already in use by Montgomery Police Department officers on a daily basis and has resulted in 40 to 50 percent more arrests.
